Understand Where the Blue Line Expansion Is Happening

The Met Council’s METRO Blue Line Extension is a 13.4-mile light-rail expansion of the existing Blue Line, extending from Target Field Station in downtown Minneapolis northwest through North Minneapolis, Robbinsdale, Crystal, and up to Brooklyn Park.

  • The Met Council will need to acquire a portion of at least 600 properties and approximately 40 total acquisitions of residential and commercial properties to accommodate the project.

  • The Met Council will likely use its power of eminent domain to acquire residential and commercial properties along the route.

  • Federal and Minnesota law require that property owners receive “just compensation.” Often the government makes absurdly low offers.

Eminent Domain & Relocation Benefits

Eminent Domain

The eminent domain laws in Minnesota contain important protections that are often overlooked by property owners and attorneys that do not practice regularly in this area of the law. Jon Morphew has extensive expertise in helping tenants, homeowners or businesses owners to obtain the maximum compensation under the law.

Relocation Benefits

Even if no part of your property is taken, residential tenants, homeowners or businesses may be entitled to relocation benefits and assistance under the Federal Uniform Relocation Act and the Minnesota Uniform Relocation Act if you are forced to move because of the project.
